How Business Insider used eonARCHIVES AI to generate rich metadata, improve search, and connect its video archive directly with its existing DAM.
Business Insider manages years of archival video spread across multiple locations. Much of that content had limited or no metadata, which made specific footage hard to find and forced editors to spend time searching manually.
Important information inside the videos — including credits and wire-service details — was also not searchable. At the same time, BI needed a solution that could work within its existing digital asset management environment without creating additional integration work, while maintaining strict security and privacy controls for global content.
EON implemented an automated metadata-enrichment workflow across BI’s video archive.
The system generates more than 14 metadata fields for each asset, including closed captions and information derived directly from the video itself. Closed captions are generated at more than 90% accuracy, improving transcript-based search and content discovery. Eon Media
EON also made credits and wire-service information searchable, giving editors new ways to identify, validate and retrieve footage.
BI teams can now search across the archive using multiple methods:
– contextual search
– phonetic search
– reverse-image search
– metadata search
– caption and transcript search
– credits and wire-service search
The solution integrates directly with BI’s existing DAM, with metadata automatically synchronized between systems to maintain a single master record.
Specific clips found in seconds.
Editors can search based on the actual contents of a video rather than relying only on filenames or manually entered metadata.
14+ metadata fields generated automatically.
Each asset gains a richer metadata layer that improves discovery and organization.
90%+ closed-caption accuracy.
Transcript-based search becomes more useful across the archive.
Credits and wire-service information searchable for the first time.
Editors can identify and validate footage using information that previously could not be searched.
Automated metadata synchronization.
EON-generated metadata flows into BI’s existing DAM, helping maintain one master metadata record across connected systems.
A major part of the implementation was integration rather than replacement. EON connected to BI’s existing DAM and synchronized metadata automatically, avoiding the need for additional development work from BI or its DAM vendor.
The platform also supports additional content workflows, including horizontal-to-vertical video conversion and further system integrations.
EON helps media organizations add structured, searchable metadata to large video libraries while working with the systems they already use.
“We have seen, tested and evaluated almost all AI solutions. Eon Media provides the most trusted, secured and most comprehensive AI technologies that outperforms other organizations. Their commitment and focus on solving problems is extremely refreshing.”- Head of Video, Business Insider
